Tragedy in Santiago: Man dies after attempting to defend a neighbor in La Yagüita de Pastor

A tragic event has shocked the Los Salses sector, in La Yagüita de Pastor, Santiago. Juan de Jesús Adames, 54, lost his life in a violent manner after being involved in an incident where, according to his relatives, he tried to intervene in defense of a woman who was being assaulted.

According to the testimonies of those close to him, Adames, who worked in construction, did not have any personal grudges with the aggressor. The tragedy reportedly had its roots in an argument that occurred the night before between the perpetrator and a neighbor, a close friend of the victim.

Details of the fatal confrontation

Elvis de Jesús Rodríguez, brother of the deceased, recounted that after a first mediation attempt the previous night, in which Juan de Jesús ended up with a chest wound, he returned to the scene the following morning to demand an explanation for what had happened. It was during this second encounter that the man was fatally attacked with a baseball bat to the neck and subsequently finished off with a bladed weapon (machete).

He got involved because the lady was a very close friend of my brother; they didn’t have any problems.
