Lidom and Fenapepro agree on temporary extension: new horizons for Dominican baseball
The Dominican Professional Baseball League (Lidom) and the National Federation of Professional Baseball Players (Fenapepro) have reached an agreement to temporarily extend their current collective bargaining agreement. This strategic move seeks to ensure operational stability while both institutions advance in negotiations to consolidate a long-term agreement with a five-year duration.
Although this measure does not constitute the definitive renewal, it represents a clear roadmap to maintain harmony between the players and the teams of the winter circuit. According to reports, this extension would be valid until March 2027, establishing a deadline in May to finalize the definitive five-year agreement that will define the future of professional baseball in the country.
International projection: Miami and Puerto Rico in the spotlight
One of the most notable aspects of this agreement is the expansion of the Lidom brand into international markets. The pact includes holding two official games between the Tigres del Licey and the Águilas Cibaeñas in the city of Miami, scheduled for the month of December. To make this possible, both franchises will give up one of their home games, sacrificing dates at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium and the Cibao Stadium, respectively, in exchange for financial compensation and a boost to the brand abroad.
The internationalization of Dominican baseball is a priority. The presence of the most iconic teams in locations with large Latino communities strengthens our sports identity and opens new commercial doors for the league.
All-Star Game and international broadcast
- Caribbean All-Star Game: A matchup between the stars of Lidom and the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League of Puerto Rico has been scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 5, in San Juan.
- Partnership with TUDN: In order to expand the league’s reach, a broadcasting agreement has been finalized with the TUDN platform, part of the Univision group, facilitating access to tournament games for fans based in the United States.
It is expected that, during the official announcement scheduled for this Wednesday, both Lidom and Fenapepro will offer detailed information regarding the execution of these commitments, reaffirming their intention to work hand in hand for the sustained growth of Dominican baseball.
