Health crisis in Las Galeras: Lack of basic equipment reported at local polyclinic
The community of Las Galeras, in the province of Samaná, has raised its voice regarding a concerning deficiency in its primary care center. Residents of the area reported the lack of a sphygmomanometer, an essential piece of equipment for measuring blood pressure, at the Las Galeras Polyclinic, which severely limits the ability to respond to emergencies and routine consultations.
Communicator Estarlyn Carela traveled to the medical center this Monday to verify the accuracy of the reports. During his inspection, he confirmed that the medical staff is unable to perform this fundamental diagnostic procedure, leaving patients unattended who present clinical symptoms of dizziness, intense headaches, and other general ailments that require constant monitoring of blood pressure.
It is unacceptable that a community of this importance does not have the minimum instruments to guarantee a safe medical evaluation. The health of the citizens cannot wait and immediate actions are required to provide this center with the necessary supplies.

Call to health authorities
Given the seriousness of the complaint, a formal call has been made to the competent authorities to intervene urgently. The requests for equipment are addressed to the following entities:
- National Health Service (SNS).
- Provincial Health Directorate and Dr. Karen Núñez.
- Regional Health Directorate, led by Dr. Julio César Landrón.
The inhabitants of Las Galeras emphasized that taking blood pressure is a basic triage procedure. The absence of this device not only delays diagnosis but also puts the integrity of patients who come to the center seeking timely assistance at risk. The community is waiting for a concrete response that guarantees the restoration of this vital medical service.
