Dominican Republic starts with a resounding victory in the Kids Caribbean Series

The Dominican Republic’s representative began their journey in the III Caribbean Kids Series with a solid 5-2 victory over Panama, standing out on the mound and taking advantage of offensive opportunities in a duel held on Mexican soil.

Pitcher Yemmy Marrero was the central figure of the game by delivering a dominant performance. Marrero worked for five innings in which he allowed no hits and managed to strike out seven opponents, guiding the Dominican pitching staff to their first win of the tournament.

Keys to the Dominican triumph

The Dominican offense knew how to capitalize on the errors and lack of control of the Panamanian pitching. The first run came in the second inning after a series of walks and a ground ball by Dylan Genao that allowed Marrero to cross the plate. Subsequently, the game experienced a moment of tension after a pause of almost an hour caused by weather conditions.

As the action resumed in the third chapter, the Dominican power made itself felt with force:

  • Nolbys Marcos hit a home run with one runner on base.
  • Daniel Paniagua repeated the dose with another home run, also with a teammate on base.
  • This four-run rally allowed Welington Castillo’s team to extend their lead to a comfortable 5-0.

The Dominican team demonstrated great responsiveness in both starting pitching and long-range hitting, maintaining composure even in the face of rain delays.

Panama’s late reaction

Panama attempted a comeback in the final inning against reliever Isaac Brito. The Panamanian team managed to score two runs thanks to a double by Noah Arauz and RBIs from Kendrik Salinas and Armando Stanziola. However, the effort was not enough to reverse the score, sealing the victory for the Dominican team.

With this result, the tricolor team prepares for its next match this Tuesday, where it will face the Mexico Green team at the Coloso del Pacifico Don Alejo Peralta Stadium, a venue that will host the competition until next Sunday.
