An unforgettable encounter: Christopher Melenciano inspires Isayli Soto in Small Great Talents

The second semifinal round of Pequeños Grandes Talentos (PGT) experienced one of its most emotional moments thanks to the surprise appearance of Dominican sprinter Christopher Melenciano. The athlete, recently crowned champion at the 2026 Santo Domingo Central American and Caribbean Games, visited the stage to share a special gesture with Isayli Soto, a participant in the program who lives with a hearing impairment.

During this meeting, Melenciano presented him with an official mascot of the Central American Games, consolidating an exchange that stood out for its human and motivational impact. For the athlete, this gesture was an opportunity to connect with a new generation, reflecting his own journey of overcoming challenges.

The meeting of two stories that, from different settings, speak of talent, effort, inclusion, and the importance of having spaces where every child can feel represented.

A benchmark of perseverance

Christopher Melenciano is not only recognized for his recent gold medal in the 4×400-meter mixed relay in Santo Domingo 2026 —where, alongside Marileidy Paulino, Anabel Medina, and Erick Sánchez, he set a new Games record— but also for being an example of resilience. Born with a hearing impairment, Melenciano has forged a brilliant career, standing out as a Deaflympics champion in 2022, where he won gold in the 200 meters and silver in the 400 meters.

The PGT production, moved by Isayli’s story, decided to name her a permanent part of the show’s family, highlighting her value and the positive impact her participation has had on the audience.

National identity on stage

Under the name “Restoration Deed”, this semifinal sought to link children’s talent with the nation’s history. The day was full of symbolism, highlighting:

  • Musical openings with Chellmy, Nación Santa, and the humor of Rafa Bobadilla.
  • A monologue about Gregorio Luperón performed by Gilbert from the Plaza de la Bandera.
  • A segment dedicated to the heroes of Capotillo, promoting national values.

The finalists moving forward

After a night of intense singing, dancing, and piano performances, the jury selected the talents who will compete in the grand final:

  • Samil Gómez Almonte (Vocals)
  • Alan Hierro (Vocals)
  • Luis Justo (Piano)

With this event, PGT reaffirms its commitment to being a platform that not only promotes talent, but also celebrates inclusion and Dominican identity through inspiring life stories.
