Julián Sosa urges media to raise quality in the face of information saturation
The director of the School of Social Communication at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), Julián Sosa, has made an urgent call to the media to prioritize quality and professional rigor. Faced with the massification of content generated by citizens through mobile devices, the academic maintains that the industry must reinvent itself to maintain its relevance in the current communication ecosystem.
During the presentation of a report on news consumption trends, Sosa emphasized that current information saturation requires journalists to take on a more critical role. According to the professor, the key to standing out lies in the exhaustive verification of data and the execution of more in-depth investigations.
Today more than ever, it is required that journalism truly does work of greater weight within society.

The digital ecosystem challenge
Sosa acknowledged that universal access to digital dissemination tools is an irreversible phenomenon. However, he stressed that the quality of professional practice is what will make the difference. For the academic, the problem does not lie in the technology available, but in the use that is made of it.
In this sense, the director of the School of Social Communication highlighted the following key points for the future of the sector:
- Identify content that generates a positive impact on society.
- Promote the continuous training of new professionals committed to ethical responsibility.
- Leverage digital tools as a means to contribute to social well-being instead of spreading misinformation.
Finally, Sosa reiterated that, in the face of the challenges of the current media landscape, the only way for journalism to maintain its credibility is to commit to a rigorous, responsible, and differentiated practice, capable of filtering out information noise to deliver real value to the audience.
