Alleged fraud reported in vehicle sale in Santo Domingo
A case of alleged fraud has come to light after a citizen reported having been the victim of a deception related to the sale of her vehicle. The affected party, identified as Silvia María De Los Santos, claims that the incident occurred during 2023, when she trusted an individual to manage the transaction of her car while she was outside of Dominican territory.
The origin of the conflict
According to the complainant’s testimony, the accused man, identified as Luis Arturo Vásquez Muñoz, allegedly assured her that he worked at a vehicle dealership, which gave him the necessary credibility for her to hand over both the car and all the corresponding legal documentation. However, instead of finalizing the sale in favor of the owner, the accused allegedly carried out fraudulent maneuvers to transfer ownership of the vehicle to his personal benefit.
The affected party maintains that she handed over her documents with the trust that the process would be transparent, but the individual took advantage of the owner’s absence to illegally seize the property.
Legal actions and arrest warrant
The case has transcended the private sphere and has reached judicial instances. According to the documents provided to Alofoke Deportes, both parties had reached a conciliatory agreement before the Public Prosecutor’s Office. However, given the repeated breach of the agreed terms by Vásquez Muñoz, the justice system has taken more severe measures.
- The defendant did not comply with the previously established agreements.
- Arrest warrant number 973-2025-EMES-07536 has been issued against Luis Arturo Vásquez Muñoz.
- The complainant requests the immediate intervention of police authorities to execute the capture of the individual involved.
Silvia María De Los Santos has reiterated her call to the authorities of the Public Ministry and the National Police to expedite the search and capture efforts for the suspect, so that he may answer before the courts for the fraud charges pending against him.
