Carolina Mejía reaffirms the defense of sovereignty and strict migration management at the border
Political leader Carolina Mejía has underscored the imperative need for the Dominican Republic to rigorously enforce the General Migration Law. During a recent public address, Mejía emphasized that the protection of national sovereignty is a non-negotiable principle that must prevail over any other consideration.
The presidential candidate was emphatic in pointing out that the State must employ all mechanisms at its disposal to ensure transparent migration control. “We have to know who is entering here,” she stated, highlighting that the registration and verification of people entering the territory is a priority for the country’s security.
Here we must defend national sovereignty above any understanding, period.

Proposal for an “economic wall” to strengthen the border zone
Beyond physical infrastructure, Mejía maintains that the border wall must be complemented by a comprehensive development strategy. According to his vision, it is essential to foster private and state investment in the border provinces to stimulate the local economy.
Among the keys of his proposal are:
- Promotion of the creation of free trade zones to generate formal jobs.
- Substantial improvement in the living conditions of residents in the border area.
- Promotion of a development model similar to that observed in Dajabón and Juana Méndez.
Citing the positive impact of the Codevi project, the leader highlighted how productive investment can provide communities with basic services that were previously non-existent. Mejía concluded that the goal is to build an “economic wall” that, in addition to generating prosperity, serves as a strategic pillar for the zealous defense of Dominican sovereignty.
