Judiciary launches third edition of the Judicial Communication Contest
The Judiciary of the Dominican Republic, in conjunction with the National School of the Judiciary (ENJ), has launched the third edition of the Judicial Communication Contest. This competition seeks to recognize journalistic excellence in the coverage of topics related to the justice system, rewarding the most outstanding works in the categories of written press, whether in print or digital format, and in the audiovisual field.
The call for entries, open since August 26, will accept applications until October 16. All works published during the year 2026 within the Dominican territory that meet the standards of depth, rigor, and journalistic ethics may participate.
Evaluation criteria and objectives
During the launch event, held in the auditorium of the Supreme Court of Justice, the authorities highlighted that the focus of the contest transcends narrative quality. The entries will be evaluated under strict criteria, each with a weighting of 20 points, which include:
- Originality in the news approach.
- Innovation in the use of languages and platforms.
- Impact generated on public opinion.
- Rigor in journalistic research.
- Professional ethics in the handling of judicial information.
The fundamental purpose of this initiative, promoted by the “Dr. Adriano Miguel Tejada” Chair of Communication and Justice, is to foster greater transparency and closeness between the judicial system and the citizenry, promoting a responsible dissemination of information that affects social peace and the Rule of Law.
International recognition for Juan Manuel Santos
The distinction recognizes Santos Calderón’s trajectory and leadership in democratic strengthening, his ability to build consensus, and his work in consolidating the Rule of Law and peace.

As a central part of this edition, the “Justice and Press” International Award will be presented to the former President of Colombia and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Juan Manuel Santos Calderón. The jury, chaired by academic Juan Luis Cebrián, highlighted Santos’ career, who in addition to his political work, has an outstanding journalistic career, having been deputy director of the newspaper El Tiempo and winner of the King of Spain Award.
The awards ceremony and presentation of this special recognition is scheduled for next November 12th. The evaluating jury, composed of figures of national and international renown, will select the winners of the top three places in each category, who will receive cash prizes, medals, and official recognitions for their contribution to judicial communication.
