France secures its military future: Macron enacts a historic investment of 36 billion euros
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has officially enacted the new Military Programming Law, a strategic step that guarantees an unprecedented economic injection into the national defense sector. With this move, the French nation secures an additional investment of 36 billion euros, the execution of which is scheduled for the period between 2026 and 2030.
During a commemorative event in Bormes-les-Mimosas, the president confirmed that the regulation, which has already successfully passed the parliamentary process and the scrutiny of the courts, will be formally published in the Official State Gazette. According to government projections, this plan will allow for the doubling of the budget allocated to the Armed Forces by the year 2027.
Technological innovation and defense against new threats
Strengthening France’s operational capacity not only contemplates an increase in financial resources, but also focuses on technological modernization. Macron stressed that the funds will be allocated to critical areas for contemporary security:
- Capacity building in the field of cybersecurity.
- Expansion and improvement of the drone fleet.
- Enhancement of innovation in Defense.
- Optimization of missile defense systems and deep strike strategies.
It will allow us to act better in deep strikes and anti-missile defense, taking advantage of what has been learned from the changes in warfare. It is up to France to protect itself and consolidate the commitment of other nations.
Emmanuel Macron, President of France
In addition to investments in equipment, the law contemplates a comprehensive reconfiguration of voluntary military service. This program, designed for young people between 18 and 25 years old, will be updated in the coming weeks with the aim of fostering citizen participation in national security, adapting to the current strategic needs of the French State.
