Haiti considers playing its upcoming home matches on Dominican soil
The Haiti national football team is evaluating the possibility of establishing the Dominican Republic as its official home venue for upcoming international matches in which they act as the host. This proposal has been put on the table by the head coach of the Haitian team, the Spanish strategist David Badia.
The initiative was communicated by the coach himself at the end of the recent match between the national teams of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. According to reports obtained by Alofoke Deportes, Badia views Dominican territory favorably for hosting their matches, seeking favorable conditions for the development of his team in the region.
The role of Concacaf
For this intention to become a reality, the process must follow the corresponding institutional channels. The proposal must be formally submitted to the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf), the body that holds the exclusive authority to validate and authorize the venues for matches under its official calendar.
- The final approval depends strictly on the technical and logistical evaluation by Concacaf.
- As of now, there is no official decision from the regulatory body regarding this request.
- The proposal seeks to facilitate the logistics of the Haitian team in their upcoming challenges within the Nations League.
The viability of this measure is subject to the approval of Concacaf, who must determine if the Dominican Republic meets all the necessary requirements to host Haiti’s home matches.
For now, the situation remains in the planning phase. Football fans and followers on the island will be attentive to any official announcement issued by the confederation in the coming days regarding this possible change of venue for the Haitian team’s matches.
