Fernando Tatis Jr. makes history by being named National League Player of the Week
Star Dominican outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. continues to solidify his great moment with the San Diego Padres, after being officially recognized as the Player of the Week in the National League. His offensive impact and defensive prowess were fundamental in standing out on a day where he demonstrated why he is considered one of the most electric talents in Major League Baseball.
During this period, Tatis Jr. recorded an impressive offensive line, batting for a .480 average. In just six games, he accumulated 12 hits in 25 at-bats, standing out with two doubles, four home runs, and a total of 11 runs batted in. One of his high points was the Sunday game against the Minnesota Twins, where he hit two home runs and added four hits.
A historic double distinction
Beyond his numbers with the bat, the Dominican also took home the Play of the Week award. This recognition came thanks to his spectacular catch at Citi Field, where he prevented a grand slam by Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor with a high-level defensive maneuver.
With this double recognition, Tatis Jr. joins an exclusive club in MLB history, becoming the second player to earn both awards in the same week, matching the feat achieved by his compatriot Juan Soto in April 2024.
