Estrellas Orientales begin preparation with 32 players in minicamp
The Estrellas Orientales have taken a firm step on their path toward the upcoming season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). With the goal of arriving in optimal condition for the start of the campaign scheduled for October 16, the green team began its minicamp at the Detroit Tigers academy, located in Ramón Santana, with an initial attendance of 32 players.
Ángel Ovalles, the team’s Vice President of Baseball Operations, highlighted the enthusiasm and discipline shown by the athletes as they joined practice early. According to the executive, this early response is a direct reflection of the commitment the players maintain toward the organization and their aspirations for the title.

Heavyweight talent on the field
The camp features a mix of experienced veterans and key figures who will look to guide the team from the very first days. Among the group of pitchers who have already reported are names with established careers such as Esmil Rogers, Oscar de la Cruz, Jhan Maríñez, Gregory Santos, Neftalí Féliz, and Domingo Tapia.
On the side of the position players, the presence of Raimel Tapia, Wilín Rosario, José Devers, and Sandber Pimentel brings a high level of competitiveness from the start of the work.
Raimel Tapia: The offensive leader sets the tone
The integration of Raimel Tapia from the very first day has been highlighted by management as a vital boost. Tapia, who was a fundamental piece in the eastern offense during the previous season, established himself as the league leader in hits with 73 and recorded a batting average of .356.
For Ovalles, having a player of his caliber from day one is a positive message for the entire clubhouse, reinforcing the importance of physical and mental preparation to repeat his impact on the field.
Work schedule
- Initial phase: Training at the Detroit Tigers complex (two weeks).
- Full workouts: Official start with the full roster scheduled for September 21st.
- Move to Tetelo Vargas: The team will move to its official home, Tetelo Vargas Stadium, on September 28th.
With these actions, the Estrellas Orientales seek to establish a solid and competitive foundation, focusing on a progressive preparation that allows the coaching staff to evaluate each member of the roster before the “playball” call is made in October.
