UASD inaugurates the “Félix Méndez” Communication Room for public policy analysis
The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), through its Dominican Observatory of Public Policies, has launched the new “Félix Méndez” Communication Room. This innovative space emerges with the firm purpose of fostering debate, critical analysis, and citizen participation regarding the strategic projects that define the development of the Dominican Republic.
The initiative, consolidated through a collaboration agreement with the National Lottery, seeks to bridge the gap between academic research and civil society, allowing the results of scientific studies to have a direct impact on the construction of effective public policies.
A space for national debate
Fernando Peña, coordinator of the Observatory, emphasized that this platform is fundamental for academia and the scientific community to closely monitor the execution of state plans. According to Peña, the intention is for various social actors to be empowered through a clear understanding of the national reality, allowing them to contribute valuable ideas to the governance process.
“The opening of this communications room is a special opportunity for the intervention of academia and the scientific world to allow social actors to empower themselves, become aware, intervene, and contribute to the process of building public policies,” noted Peña.

Technology at the service of information
The new “Félix Méndez” Communication Room is equipped with modern tools for the production of digital content and podcasts. In addition, the creation of a digital radio station is planned, which will serve as an official channel to disseminate the analyses carried out by UASD experts.
The name of the room pays posthumous tribute to journalist Félix Méndez, whose career in Dominican communication was characterized by his integrity and his commitment to the best interests of the nation. During the inaugural ceremony, family members and colleagues of the communicator were present to celebrate this recognition of his legacy.
