Blow to micro-trafficking: DNCD seizes 11 packages of alleged marijuana in Villa Juana
In a strategic operation against the trafficking of illicit substances, agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), under the supervision of the Public Ministry, managed to arrest a man in the Villa Juana sector, National District. The subject was intercepted at the moment he was attempting to pick up a suspicious shipment at an international courier company.
Intelligence work allowed authorities to identify and secure a cardboard box that, inside, concealed a wire spool modified to hide 11 packages of a plant substance, presumably marijuana, duly packed in plastic bags.
Evidence seized during the operation
In addition to the controlled substance, the acting agents confiscated various items that will form part of the accusatory file:
- A white KIA brand vehicle.
- Cash in the amount of RD$16,550.
- A mobile device.
- Personal documentation and other items presumed to be linked to illicit activity.
The detainee has been placed at the disposal of the Permanent Attention Jurisdiction of the National District to face charges for the alleged violation of Law 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances.
Continuation of investigations
The authorities have confirmed that the case remains under investigation, as they seek to determine if the detainee is part of a larger network dedicated to micro-trafficking. The seized packages were transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) to carry out the technical analyses that will certify the weight and exact nature of the substance.
