Disney deploys its heavy artillery at D23: Frozen 3, Avengers, and Star Wars lead the agenda
The entertainment giant has shaken the film industry during the recent edition of D23, the pinnacle event for fans of the brand. Disney took advantage of the stage to reveal an ambitious roadmap that ranges from highly anticipated sequels to new forays into science fiction and superhero universes.
Triumphant returns: Frozen, Coco and The Incredibles
The magic of animation remains the company’s main engine. “Frozen 3” is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious releases, introducing a new antagonist with abilities on par with Elsa’s. The film, which will once again feature the voices of Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, is scheduled for release on November 24, 2027.
For its part, Pixar confirmed that the “Coco” sequel will arrive in November 2029, showing a teenage Miguel and the return of Ernesto de la Cruz in a new journey through the Land of the Dead. As for the most famous family of superheroes, “Incredibles 3” will hit the big screen on June 16, 2028, under the direction of Peter Sohn.
Disney’s release calendar seeks to consolidate its most beloved franchises while expanding its horizons with new stories and renowned talent.
Marvel and Star Wars: The bet on action
The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues its expansion with “Avengers: Doomsday”, scheduled for December 18, 2026. The presentation featured key figures such as Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans. Likewise, the “X-Men” project revealed a stellar cast including Sadie Sink as Jean Grey and Kit Connor as Cyclops, with a release set for May 5, 2028.
The “Star Wars” saga is also renewing itself with the announcement of “Starfighter”, a production directed by Shawn Levy that will star Ryan Gosling. The galactic adventure has an arrival date of May 28, 2027.
