Cyclonic activity: Cristobal weakens while new disturbances threaten the Pacific and the Caribbean
The meteorological outlook shows significant changes in the last few hours. In the Atlantic, cyclone Cristobal has lost strength, degrading into a tropical depression during Thursday. Fortunately, this system is moving 610 miles from the Azores Islands and does not pose any type of risk to populated areas, fulfilling the forecasts that anticipated its rapid dissipation.
However, weather surveillance remains active in other regions due to the formation of new systems that could impact the Pacific and the Caribbean.
Alert in the Pacific: Hawaii under the microscope
The National Hurricane Center’s attention is currently focused on the system designated ‘One-C’, located 985 miles east of Honolulu, Hawaii. This phenomenon shows considerable potential for strengthening over the next few days.
People in the Hawaiian Islands should closely monitor the progress of this system. A hurricane or tropical storm watch will likely be required for a portion of the state early Thursday.

Active surveillance in the Atlantic and the Caribbean
Regarding the Atlantic, experts are keeping two specific areas under observation that show potential for cyclonic development and could approach the Caribbean Antilles:
- AL92 System: Registers a high probability of development, estimated at 80%.
- AL94 System: Presents a medium probability of formation, situated at 50%.
It is important to remember that seasonal projections have been recently adjusted. While for the Atlantic a season with a maximum of 13 storms is estimated, below the historical average, the eastern Pacific presents a different situation. In this area, due to the strengthening of the El Niño climate phenomenon, more intense activity is expected with up to 22 storms, exceeding the usual average.
