China reaffirms its role as a global stabilizing force before the UN General Assembly
Chinese Vice President Han Zheng presented his nation to the United Nations General Assembly as a pillar of stability on an international stage marked by uncertainty. During his speech, the senior official highlighted Beijing’s commitment to multilateralism, a stance it has maintained since 1971, the year its legitimate representation before the international body was consolidated.
Han made an urgent call to abandon the bloc mentality and the dynamics typical of the Cold War, advocating instead for a common security architecture based on dialogue. “Major countries must assume their special responsibilities in safeguarding international peace and security and must take the lead in complying with rules,” the vice president emphasized, categorically rejecting any unilateral military action that lacks the backing of the Security Council.
Stance on conflicts and world trade
In the geopolitical sphere, the Chinese representative was emphatic in demanding respect for the sovereignty of Middle Eastern countries. Likewise, he reiterated his Government’s support for the two-State solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine, and spoke out once again in favor of ending the trade blockade against Cuba.
“Building walls, erecting barriers, severing and disrupting supply chains disrupt the world’s industrial stability and harm the interests of all parties involved,” Han warned regarding restrictions on global trade.
Artificial Intelligence centered on human well-being
One of the central points of the speech was the management of artificial intelligence. Given the rapid advancement of this technology, China advocates for a “good-oriented” and people-centered approach, with the goal of reducing the digital divide globally. The vice president stressed that, amidst current technological competition, progress is only possible through an open and collaborative environment.
- Promotion of multilateralism and international cooperation.
- Defense of the global order after World War II.
- Promotion of a trading system based on clear rules.
- Commitment to climate change mitigation and global public health.
- Advocacy for greater representation for the Global South.
With this message, the Chinese government seeks to strengthen its position as a key player in resolving the challenges of the 21st century, reaffirming that its roadmap remains focused on peaceful development and the stability of global supply chains.
