Aaron Judge resumes batting: The Yankees captain advances in his recovery

Good news for the New York Yankees fanbase. The captain and star outfielder, Aaron Judge, has taken a fundamental step in his rehabilitation process by resuming tee work, this being his first activity with the bat since late May.

According to manager Aaron Boone, the slugger has been working in this mode for the last two days, showing positive and encouraging progress for the New York team’s coaching staff.

A careful recovery process

Judge’s injury, a stress fracture in his first right rib, dates back to late April, when the player dove headfirst for a ball during a game in Houston. Despite the discomfort, the star athlete tried to stay on the field for several weeks before being officially placed on the injured list in late May.

In addition to returning to batting, the medical team has cleared the player to perform other key exercises that are part of his conditioning:

  • Arm-loosening exercises to maintain mobility.
  • Outdoor running sessions.
  • Resistance routines focused on the upper body.

Although the Yankees remain cautious and have not set an exact date for his return to the diamond, optimism prevails within the organization about seeing him back in the lineup before the regular season ends, with September being the most likely scenario for his return.

Impact on the ground

Before being forced to pause his campaign, Judge was maintaining significant offensive production. In the 59 games he managed to play, the outfielder recorded a .248 batting average, with a .375 on-base percentage and a .533 slugging percentage. His power contribution translated into 17 home runs and 38 runs batted in, figures the Yankees hope to recover for the final stretch of the Major League schedule.
