Weather forecast: Trough will bring rain and thunderstorms to much of the country
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has issued a detailed report on the weather conditions for this Wednesday, warning about the incidence of a trough that will affect the national territory. This atmospheric phenomenon is expected to generate moderate to heavy downpours, accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts, especially during the afternoon.
During the morning hours, the outlook will be mostly sunny with scattered clouds across much of the country, although passing showers are expected in specific areas of the Caribbean coast. However, the outlook will change by the afternoon, when the combination of humidity, daytime heating, and orographic effects will lead to an increase in cloudiness and rainfall activity.
Areas under surveillance and recommendations
The most significant rainfall will be concentrated in the northwest, southeast, and Central Mountain Range regions. Among the provinces with the highest probability of recording rain are:

- Monseñor Nouel
- La Vega
- Santiago
- San Juan
- Santiago Rodríguez
- Elías Piña
Despite the start of autumn, the environment will remain humid and hot, with a high heat index. The public is advised to stay hydrated, wear light-colored, lightweight clothing, and avoid prolonged sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Tropical system monitoring
In addition to the trough, meteorological authorities are keeping a tropical wave moving off the coast of Africa, near the Cape Verde Islands, under strict surveillance. According to current models, the system has a 40% probability of cyclonic development over the next seven days, so Indomet will continue to evaluate its evolution.
Conditions in Greater Santo Domingo
For the National District and the municipalities of Santo Domingo, a sky with variable cloudiness and the occurrence of morning showers are forecast. Temperatures in the capital will remain high, with lows between 24 °C and 26 °C, and highs that will range between 33 °C and 35 °C, maintaining a hot environment characteristic of the season.
