Canada dominates Cuba in the 2026 Norceca Continental Championship
In a display of technical and tactical superiority, the Canadian women’s team decisively defeated their Cuban counterparts at the Ricardo Gioriver Arias Volleyball Palace. The Canadian sextet sealed their victory with a 3-0 score, reflecting set scores of 25-19, 25-13, and 25-17 during the 2026 Norceca Continental Championship.
The match, which was resolved in just one hour and six minutes of play, stood out for the offensive display of the Canadians, who maintained control of the game’s pace from start to finish.
Leadership on the court
Canada’s offense was led by Kiera Van Ryk and Hilary Howe, who combined for 14 points each, serving as key pieces in breaking down the Cuban defense. Joining this effort was Abagayle Guezen, who contributed an additional 11 points to secure the victory.
The collective performance was key to neutralizing the intentions of the Cuban team, which struggled to find space but was overwhelmed by the precision of the Americans’ attacks.
On behalf of the Cuban delegation, Yalain Regla De La Peña González stood out as her team’s top scorer, managing to record eight points despite the pressure exerted by the Canadian block.
