Alleged perpetrator of a teenager’s death in East Santo Domingo captured
Agents from the National Police Homicide Division, stationed in Los Mina, executed an arrest warrant against Luis Miguel Santiago Guzmán, 40, identified as the primary suspect in the death of 17-year-old Zaidy Fragoso Lizardo. The teenager’s body was discovered last Friday in the Alma Rosa sector, Santo Domingo East.
Key evidence in the investigation
Following exhaustive investigative work and the technical efforts of the Forensic Police, the authorities managed to recover significant evidentiary elements that link the detainee to the event. Among the findings, the following stand out:
- Clothing items that presented stains of a reddish fluid, which are being analyzed to confirm if they correspond to blood.
- A screwdriver found inside the suspect’s vehicle, which is undergoing forensic examination.
- Security camera recordings that captured the presence of a white Mazda Demio vehicle, owned by the detainee, circulating in the area during the early hours of the incident.
Preliminary investigation determined that the cause of the minor’s death was hypovolemic shock, caused by the wounds that were inflicted upon her.
The victim’s body was found without vital signs on Street A, located behind a commercial establishment near the Mella highway. Currently, the National Police authorities are working jointly with the Public Prosecutor’s Office to clarify the exact motives that triggered this tragic event.
Santiago Guzmán has been taken into custody and will be presented before the corresponding judicial authorities for the initiation of the relevant legal process.
