Arrest warrant ordered for surgeon José Desena Montero after sentence suspension is revoked
The Sentence Execution Court of the National District has issued an arrest warrant against plastic surgeon José Desena Montero. This measure follows a one-year prison sentence for involuntary manslaughter, a case stemming from the death of patient Bianca Melina de los Santos Corcino during an aesthetic procedure performed in 2020.
Non-compliance with imposed conditions
The decision was made by substitute judge Franny M.L. González Castillo, who determined that the physician did not meet the necessary requirements to maintain the benefit of the suspended sentence. According to resolution 249-01-2026-SRES-00615, the court verified that Desena Montero committed offenses that forced the revocation of said benefit.
- Change of address without prior notification to the judicial authorities.
- Failure to attend the three mandatory talks coordinated by the Sentence Execution judge.
Previously, through resolution 046-2025-SSEN-0014, the court had ruled on strict conditions for the surgeon to remain at liberty, which included residency monitoring, a prohibition on carrying weapons, and a restriction on alcohol consumption.
Magistrate González Castillo ordered that the convicted person be transferred immediately to the Najayo Men’s Correction and Rehabilitation Center to effectively carry out the one-year prison sentence.
The arrest warrant has been forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the National Police, who are responsible for executing the detention and ensuring the transfer of Desena Montero to the corresponding penitentiary facility.
