Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel expressed that he is not worried about his position, despite the recent 31-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns, which left his team with a 1-6 record. McDaniel, visibly disappointed, emphasized that focusing on the security of his job would be detrimental to the organization. He stated that his priority is to fulfill his responsibilities and give his all for the Dolphins. Furthermore, he believes that thinking about his personal future would be a disservice to the players, coaches, and the organization.

The way I view this job is that I find it very offensive to all parties involved if I’m thinking about having the job; I need to be doing my job.

The coach acknowledged that the players’ frustration became evident during the game against the Browns, which contributed to the defeat. The Dolphins committed 11 penalties for 103 yards, record figures since McDaniel was hired in 2022. They also suffered four turnovers, including three interceptions by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and a fumble by returner Dee Eskridge. McDaniel indicated that they will evaluate all aspects of the game and could make changes to the staff for the next Week 8 game against Atlanta. The coach hinted that some players could be replaced if they do not improve their performance.

Mientras su situación personal generó preguntas después del partido del domingo, Mike McDaniel insinuó posibles cambios en el personal esta semana, mientras los Dolphins se preparan para visitar a los Falcons en la Semana 8.
McDaniel mentioned that, although there were “multiple factors” in Tagovailoa’s three interceptions, two of them were “extremely avoidable.” Although he didn’t suggest a quarterback change, Tagovailoa was replaced in the final quarter by rookie Quinn Ewers. The coach added that the team will consider changing their style of play if necessary, and that “everything is on the table”. Tagovailoa finished the game with 12 of 23 passes completed, 100 yards, and three interceptions, resulting in his worst career passer rating, with 24.1. The quarterback acknowledged that his performance has not been as expected and that he must improve his game. Tagovailoa, who signed a four-year, $212.1 million contract extension last season, admitted that he is not satisfied with his current performance. Linebacker Bradley Chubb stated that the Miami locker room remains united and that it is still possible to turn the season around.
