San Cristóbal receives new CAIPI center to strengthen child development
President Luis Abinader, accompanied by the executive director of the National Institute for Comprehensive Early Childhood Care (INAIPI), Xiomara Guante, led the inauguration of the new Comprehensive Early Childhood Care Center (CAIPI) located in the Canastica sector, San Cristóbal. This modern infrastructure is designed to provide quality care to 250 boys and girls between the ages of 0 and 5.
The launch of this center reinforces the central government’s commitment to expanding services that enhance the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of Dominican children, utilizing both CAIPI modalities and the Centers for Family and Childhood Care (CAFI).
This new center is a direct response to the needs of the families in this area. Each of the 250 children benefited represents an opportunity to grow in a safe and protected environment, guaranteeing a better future for our society.

Scope and comprehensive services
The work, executed under the supervision of the School Infrastructure Directorate, will positively impact residents of various sectors, including Mendoza, Los Barrancones, Urbanización Las Colinas, Cañada de los Vallejo, Villa Bendición, Los Ninjas, El Bronx, and several surrounding neighborhoods, facilitating access to basic early development services.
Among the fundamental services that the center will offer, the following stand out:
- Timely stimulation and early education.
- Health and nutrition programs.
- Specialized care for special educational needs and disabilities.
- Protection against violence and support with birth registration.
- Comprehensive support for the family unit and the community.
Provincial impact and citizen gratitude
With this opening, the province of San Cristóbal consolidates a network of 43 care centers, reaching an installed capacity to benefit 12,556 infants. In the main municipality alone, the network already has 17 operational centers, including both CAIPI and CAFI.
Eida Lara Ruíz, representing the beneficiary families, thanked the president for the initiative. She pointed out that the existence of this center provides peace of mind to working parents, who now have a safe and professional space for the care and education of their children.
The inaugural event was attended by prominent authorities, including Senator Gustavo Lara Salazar, Provincial Governor Pura Casilla, and Municipal Mayor Nelson de la Rosa, along with representatives of the local community.
