Lenin Jhericop Núñez de León, who is under investigation for the death of Enmanuel Contrera Medina, was arrested this Friday upon his arrival in the Dominican Republic. The arrest took place at Las Américas International Airport (AILA) after landing on a flight from Miami, United States.
Prior to his capture, Núñez de León released a video in which he asserted that his stay abroad was strictly due to academic commitments. The young man emphatically rejected the versions suggesting that he left the country to evade justice, arguing that at the time of his departure, there were no legal restrictions against him.

In addition to addressing his departure from the country, Núñez de León denied rumors regarding an alleged change of identity to enter the United States and the existence of prior criminal records in Dominican territory. The individual under investigation stated that he had conducted a verification with U.S. authorities, confirming that he has no pending cases in that nation.
“Let the facts be clarified, and let there be justice for that family as well,” he added, expressing his willingness to collaborate with the clarification of the event based on real evidence.

The Public Ministry confirmed that the arrest was executed at 3:44 in the afternoon by the Fugitive, Rebel, and Convicted Capture Unit (Ucaprec). The action responds to an order issued by Judge Patricia A. Padilla Rosario, interim coordinator of the Instruction Courts of the National District.
The case linking Núñez de León centers on the death of Enmanuel Contrera Medina, who lost his life after being the victim of an assault. According to preliminary data, the conflict originated from a negotiation related to the purchase of a mobile device in the Los Praditos sector.
