Gigantes del Cibao set date for start of training camp ahead of LIDOM 2026-2027
The Gigantes del Cibao have officially announced the start of their training camp for the 2026-2027 season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). The San Francisco de Macorís organization has summoned its players for next Friday, September 25th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Julián Javier Stadium facilities.
This first day of work will feature the presence of the players who make up the team’s reserve, as well as the young talents selected in the upcoming Rookie Draft. The main objective of this early call is to allow the coaching staff and the Baseball Operations department to immediately begin the process of physical and technical evaluation of the athletes.
Strategic planning and roster adjustments
Under the leadership of General Manager Jaylon Pimentel, the Operations department has maintained a steady pace of work over the last few months. Management is focused on structuring a highly competitive roster that can fight from day one for the franchise’s objectives.
Management has developed a roster evaluation and planning process with the purpose of building a competitive team from the start of the championship.
As part of the strategic moves to prepare the team’s structure and make room for new talent, the board confirmed the departure of six players from its organization. The players who have been released are:

- Benony Robles (Pitcher)
- Wander Guante (Pitcher)
- Franklin Sánchez (Pitcher)
- Kelvin Bautista (Pitcher)
- Jorge Bonifacio (Outfielder)
Inaugural duel in San Francisco de Macorís
The road to the crown officially begins on October 16. The Gigantes del Cibao will debut their home game schedule, hosting the Águilas Cibaeñas at the Julián Javier Stadium starting at 7:00 PM. With this start of training, the organization reaffirms its commitment to the fans to present a team ready for the challenges of the 2026-27 season.
