Toros del Este define their coaching staff for the 2026-27 LIDOM season
The Toros del Este franchise has made official the coaching staff that will accompany manager Víctor Estévez in the upcoming season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), which is scheduled to begin on October 16. Estévez, who stood out in 2026 as a coach in Major League Baseball with the Washington Nationals, will lead a group that combines international experience and deep knowledge of winter baseball.
In a key piece of the structure, Brayan Peña will repeat as bench coach. The former Cuban catcher, with a solid career in the Major Leagues and previous experience in the Dominican league both as a player and coach, brings a fundamental strategic vision for the plans of the team from La Romana.
Strength in pitching and offense
The pitching staff will be led once again by Jordan Norberto, who has extensive experience in professional baseball. He will be supported by José R. Díaz and the new addition of Matt Wheeler, who is currently part of the Boston Red Sox system in the Dominican Summer League.
Regarding the offense, Ray Willy Gómez remains as hitting coach after a 2025-26 season where the Toros led the league in runs scored. His work will be supported by assistants Julián Yan and Fleming Báez, who ensure continuity in the preparation of the Toros’ hitters.
The structuring of this technical staff is a vital step in our aspirations for the upcoming LIDOM season, consolidating a group capable of guiding our players to success.
