Weekend with stable weather and high temperatures in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has reported that for this weekend, a meteorological outlook with scarce rainfall is expected across much of the national geography. This climatic behavior is the result of the influence of a high-pressure system located over the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Forecaster Henry Agramonte detailed that, although a dry environment will prevail, the occurrence of isolated showers in specific spots cannot be ruled out. These passing rains would be the result of local effects and the incidence of the prevailing east-southeast wind, concentrating mainly in the Central Mountain Range and the border area.

Detailed forecast: Saturday and Sunday

  • Saturday: A sky with little cloud cover and a low probability of rain is projected. During the morning, the presence of Saharan dust particles is expected, while in the afternoon, very isolated showers could be recorded.
  • Sunday: A slight increase in humidity levels is anticipated due to the proximity of a tropical wave. This will allow for the appearance of scattered downpours that will mostly affect the southeast, northeast, Central Mountain Range, and border regions.

High temperatures will continue to be the main feature throughout the national territory, influenced by the time of year and the persistence of the east-southeast wind.

Recommendations for extreme heat

Due to the high temperatures affecting the country, from Alofoke Deportes we reiterate the recommendations issued by the authorities to safeguard health:

  • Maintain constant hydration by consuming enough liquids.
  • Use light clothing and preferably light-colored.
  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight during the period of greatest intensity, between 11:00 in the morning and 4:00 in the afternoon.

The conditions this Saturday are favorable for outdoor activities and beach visits; however, it is essential to follow precautionary measures against solar radiation and intense heat to avoid physical complications.
