Dominican Republic becomes the epicenter of world soccer with the visit of Gianni Infantino and Víctor Montagliani
The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, led the welcome this Friday for the top authorities of international football, Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, and Victor Montagliani, president of Concacaf, who landed on Dominican soil through the Punta Cana International Airport.
The presence of these high-ranking officials is due to the celebration of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) membership meeting, a strategic conclave that brings together the main representatives of the associations that make up this regional body in the tourist area of Punta Cana.
A high-level display for Caribbean soccer
The official delegation that accompanied Minister Cruz during the reception was made up of key figures in national sports, including:
- Garibaldi Bautista, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD).
- Luis Mejía Oviedo, president of Centro Caribe Sports.
- Karilyn Chabebe, Vice Minister of Sports.
- Rafael Barón Duluc Rijo (Cholitín), senator for La Altagracia province.
- Benny Metz, National Soccer Commissioner.
During his stay, FIFA President Gianni Infantino held a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, who extended a warm welcome to the country. In this dialogue, the head of world football reaffirmed his commitment to collaborate closely to boost the growth and comprehensive development of football in Dominican territory.
For the Dominican Republic, it is a source of pride to welcome FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Concacaf President Victor Montagliani, and all the leaders who are part of the Caribbean Football Union. Their presence in our country reaffirms the importance that the Dominican Republic has achieved on the international sports stage and, particularly, in the development and strengthening of football in our region.
