Gianni Infantino arrives in the Dominican Republic to boost the development of football
FIFA President Gianni Infantino landed this Friday in the Dominican Republic, marking a milestone in the national sports agenda. Upon his arrival at Punta Cana Airport, the head of world football was welcomed by the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, along with a delegation composed of the president of the Dominican Football Federation, the president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Luisín Mejía, and the national football commissioner.
During the meeting, a telephone contact was established with the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, who extended a warm welcome to the executive. The dialogue reflected the willingness of the Dominican Government to strengthen ties with the international organization to foster the growth of this discipline in the country.

For his part, President Abinader reaffirmed the nation’s interest in working hand in hand with FIFA. The president highlighted the importance of maintaining solid relationships that allow for joint action for the benefit of athletes and local sports infrastructure.
The fundamental objectives of this official visit are:
- Strengthen institutional ties with the Dominican Football Federation.
- Promote new sports infrastructure projects.
- Promote technical training programs and the massification of football throughout the national territory.
