Núcleo Extremo closes the 2026 cycle with the shocking Urban Monster show

The Núcleo Extremo Dance Center academy concluded its 2026 training cycle with a high-level performance titled “Urban Monster”. The event, held at the Narciso González Cultural Center theater, brought together more than 140 students who demonstrated the evolution and stage mastery of the new generation of urban dancers in the Dominican Republic.

Under the premise that “the monster is not born, it is trained,” the academy reaffirmed its philosophy that success on stage is the result of a sustained process of discipline, technical training, and constant effort, moving away from the idea that talent is solely a natural gift.

A benchmark pedagogical model in the country

Since its founding in 2008, Núcleo Extremo has been a pioneer in formalizing urban dance education. Its academic program, one of a kind, allows students to train in a structured way from childhood to professional levels, creating a direct bridge to commercial, audiovisual, and competitive projects.

We are seeing a generation of young people moving and executing at a level that a few years ago seemed very distant for our country. What we are seeing today is the result of many years of sowing.

Jonathan Castillo and Larybel Olivero de Castillo, directors of the academy.

Acknowledgments and values on stage

As a new feature this year, the academy introduced NX Badges, a system designed to value fundamental areas beyond technique. Students were recognized under five pillars:

  • DISCIPLINE: Responsibility and consistency.
  • POWER: Passion and stage energy.
  • LOYALTY: Camaraderie and commitment to the team.
  • RISE UP: Significant evolution during the season.
  • IMPACT: Positive leadership and inspiration.

In addition, the MVP award was presented to the meritorious student of each group, comprehensively evaluating their performance, attitude, and representation of the institution’s values.

High-level training

The faculty, composed of figures such as Carlos David Mejía, María Gabriela Contreras, Junior Rodríguez, Naomi Severino, Raymundo Rodríguez, and Shayr Montero, guarantees instruction based on professional experience. This methodology is the same one that has led Da Republik Dance Crew, the academy’s flagship group, to stand out on international stages, including their participation in world competitions and the prestigious America’s Got Talent program.

With “Urban Monster”, Núcleo Extremo not only closed a successful season, but also consolidated its commitment to continue raising the standard of Dominican urban dance, preparing the leaders of tomorrow through serious and professional artistic training.
