Russia labels the recent drone attack in Sochi as a terrorist act

Tensions in the region escalated following Moscow’s recent accusations against Ukraine, pointing to Kyiv as directly responsible for an attack carried out against a tourist area in the resort city of Sochi, located on the shores of the Black Sea.

Svetlana Petrenko, spokesperson for the Russian Investigative Committee, described the incident as a deliberate action and proof of the terrorist nature of the Ukrainian regime. Given the gravity of the events, Russian authorities have formally initiated a criminal case under the classification of terrorism to investigate what occurred.

The selective attack against the tourist area is one more sign of the terrorist nature of the Kiev regime.

Impact and official response

The official report on the incident details the use of nautical drones in the offensive, which resulted in 28 people injured. Of this group, at least four individuals remain under medical supervision in local hospitals.

For its part, the Kremlin has reinforced its stance regarding national security. Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Russian presidency, assured that President Vladimir Putin maintains a constant assessment with high-ranking military officials regarding the protection of cities against Ukrainian incursions.

Being unable to reverse the dynamics on the front, the Ukrainians are resorting to these types of terrorist activities.

The Russian government maintains that these tactics are a response to the lack of Ukrainian progress on the battlefield, intensifying surveillance at strategic and tourist points in the country.
