SENPA executes Environmental Commitment 3.0 operation with resounding results in protected areas
The National Environmental Protection Service (SENPA) carried out a massive nationwide intervention under the name of operation “Environmental Commitment 3.0”. The action, designed to safeguard the ecological integrity of national parks, resulted in the detention of 531 people, of whom 530 are Haitian citizens in an irregular migratory situation and one is of Dominican nationality.
During the strategic deployment, the authorities managed to recover 1,063 “tareas” of land that were being exploited illegally. Likewise, the operational team dismantled 12 small farms and 16 shacks, in addition to removing 31 wire fences that were obstructing free transit in areas of high ecological sensitivity.
Equipment and recovered logistics
- 11 motorcycles impounded.
- 36 seized tools used for illicit activities.
- 78 animals recovered during inspections.
The operation, which began this past Saturday under the direct supervision of the SENPA director general, Brigadier General Ángel Alfredo Camacho Ubiera, involved the deployment of military units and specialized technical personnel from the Joint and Interagency Task Force. Camacho Ubiera emphasized that these actions reaffirm the leadership of the Armed Forces in protecting the country’s natural resources, working hand-in-hand with state institutions.
The Armed Forces reaffirm their operational leadership and permanent commitment to the protection of protected areas, acting in coordination with the institutions of the Dominican State.

National scope of the intervention
The actions of “Environmental Commitment 3.0” were extended across various regions of the national territory, including:
- North Zone: Montaña La Humeadora National Park, Pico Diego de Ocampo Natural Monument, Loma de Blanco, and La Salcedoa Scientific Reserve.
- East and Northeast Zone: Los Haitises National Park, Aniana Vargas National Park, Cotubanamá National Park, and Laguna Mallén Wildlife Refuge.
- Northwest Region: Alto de Mao Forest Reserve and Piky Lora Natural Reserve.
- Metropolitan Region: Cachón de La Rubia Natural Monument and Loma Los 7 Picos National Park.
- South and Southwest Region: Sierra de Bahoruco National Park and Sierra de Neyba National Park.
This inter-institutional effort was executed under the guidelines of the Ministry of Defense and had the collaboration of the Ministry of Environment, the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Defense of the Environment, the General Directorate of Migration, the National Police, Livestock, CONANI, and the Park Ranger Corps.
