Bayer Leverkusen is in talks with Liverpool to sign defender Jarell Quansah.
Negotiations between both clubs are ongoing. Quansah signed a new five-year contract with Liverpool last October.
The 22-year-old center-back joined Liverpool’s academy at the age of five, and made his debut for the first team against Newcastle United in August 2023.
Quansah had a successful debut season under Jürgen Klopp in 2023-24, featuring in 33 matches across all competitions.Liverpool’s Jarell Quansah could join Bayer Leverkusen. The English youth international, who is representing his country in this summer’s European Under-21 Championship, struggled to maintain his level last season, starting only four Premier League games under Arne Slot.
Liverpool has a good working relationship with Leverkusen, having signed full-back Jeremie Frimpong last month.
A source close to the case revealed that any potential agreement for Quansah would not be related to Wirtz’s transfer.
In the event that Quansah leaves, Liverpool would need defensive reinforcements, as central defender Ibrahima Konaté’s contract expires next summer.
