Modric Scores His First Goal in Serie A and Gives AC Milan the Victory

Midfielder Luka Modric shone by scoring his first goal in Serie A, securing the victory for AC Milan over Bologna with a score of 1-0 at the San Siro stadium. The home side generated the most chances in the first half, with Pervis Estupiñán and Ruben Loftus-Cheek hitting the posts. Modric, at 40 years old, broke the tie for Milan, receiving a pass from Alexis Saelemaekers and precisely defining against Bologna’s goalkeeper, Lukasz Skorupski, at the hour mark. Christopher Nkunku made his debut with Milan, and apparently won a penalty in the first seconds, but VAR overturned the decision. This generated outrage among the local fans and on the bench, which led to coach Massimiliano Allegri being sent off to the stands for his reaction.

Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe, former teammates from Marseille, reunited on the field. Rabiot played the full 90 minutes for Milan, while Rowe came on from the bench for Bologna. American player Christian Pulisic also came on as a substitute for Milan and looked very dangerous when he came on for Loftus-Cheek in the 65th minute. Nkunku replaced Santiago Jimenez five minutes from the end and seemed to generate an immediate impact. However, referee Matteo Marcenaro consulted VAR and determined that there was not enough force in Remo Freuler’s foul, canceling the decision. Allegri’s fury cost him the expulsion and he will not be able to be on the bench for Milan’s next match against Udinese.
