The Manchester United could start the season without a new center forward, after a frustrating search for a recognized player in the “9” position, according to sources close to the club.
Ruben Amorim’s team has been reinforced with the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who combined to score 35 goals in the Premier League last season. The transactions had a total value of 135 million pounds.
Amorim has also shown interest in adding a new striker in the transfer market, after his team scored only 44 goals in the league last season.
However, after interest in Liam Delap, Viktor Gyökeres and Hugo Ekitike, which did not materialize, sources indicate that there is no guarantee that a new striker will arrive before the transfer deadline.
Other potential targets are being evaluated and conversations with agents and intermediaries are ongoing.
There is also the acceptance that, if the club were to sign a new center forward, space would have to be made in the squad.

United arrived in Chicago on Tuesday for their three-match tour of the United States with forwards Rasmus Højlund, Joshua Zirkzee and Chido Obi in the traveling group.
Højlund and Zirkzee struggled last season, managing only seven league goals between them.
Højlund has been linked with a return to Italy with Inter Milan and Juventus, although sources indicate that his preference is to fight for a place in the United squad.
United keeps its options open with the 22-year-old player, who has three years left on his contract.
