Liverpool Strengthens Defense with Jeremie Frimpong
Liverpool, the current Premier League champion, has officially announced the incorporation of Jeremie Frimpong, coming from Bayer Leverkusen. The announcement was made this Friday, marking a strategic move to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season.
Frimpong, an international player for the Netherlands national team, has established himself as one of the most promising full-backs in the world. His signing was finalized thanks to a clause in his contract that allowed his departure for 35 million euros (approximately 39.2 million dollars), according to sources close to the club.
It is expected that the transfer will be completed once the transfer market opens on June 1st. The agreement contemplates the payment of the sum in three annual installments. The announcement of Frimpong’s signing comes after the confirmation of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure to Real Madrid.
Alexander-Arnold, whose contract expired at the end of June, joins the LaLiga team to compete in the Club World Cup. The transfer was closed for 10 million euros (around 11.3 million dollars).Although it has been speculated that Frimpong arrives to replace the absence of Alexander-Arnold, it has been reported that coach Arne Slot sees the player as a versatile option on the right wing. Frimpong could cover Mohamed Salah’s position when he participates in the Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco this winter.

Liverpool has signed Jeremie Frimpong as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer.

Frimpong, who trained in the lower categories of Manchester City for nine years, then went through Celtic and Leverkusen, which gives him the status of a player trained in England.
Furthermore, the footballer has links to Liverpool through Dutch coach Arne Slot and his national teammates Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, and Virgil van Dijk. Frimpong was a key player at Leverkusen, standing out in the season in which the team achieved a historic Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal. The club also reached the final of the Europa League.
