The Spanish international Jenni Hermoso fulfilled her dream of winning a title in Mexico, contributing to Tigres Femenil winning the Apertura 2025 trophy on Sunday.
Tigres Femenil defeated América 1-0, achieving a 4-3 aggregate victory to secure the Apertura 2025 tournament.
Beautiful, 35 years old, who was a victim of the “Rubiales kiss scandal” that shook Spanish football after the national team’s victory in the 2023 World Cup, had previously lost Liga MX finals with Tigres and his former club, Pachuca.
“Third time’s the charm, and you have no idea how happy this trophy makes me,” said the former Barcelona star after Sunday’s match.
Honestly, it’s one of the most significant trophies, because being so far from your country, so far from your family, spending so much time alone… I said I wasn’t going to leave Mexico, which doesn’t mean I’m going to leave, but I wasn’t going to leave Mexico without winning a trophy, and today I leave satisfied.

Hermoso played a key role for Spain when they won the World Cup in 2023, but in the celebrations after the match, she was the subject of an unsolicited kiss by the former president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales.
Rubiales was found guilty by a Spanish court earlier this year for sexually assaulting Hermoso.
Hermoso recently returned to the national team after not participating since 2024 due to what the coach had called “technical reasons”.
