Eriksen criticizes United legends: “Negative opinions don’t help”

The former Manchester United midfielder, Christian Eriksen, has expressed his opinion on the impact of comments from former players on the club. In an exclusive interview, Eriksen pointed out that at United they are expected to compete for the Premier League title every season, downplaying the importance of national cups, something that does not happen in other clubs. According to the Dane, it’s time to be more “realistic”.

I think they obviously want to be stable again as a top club, but even being there, winning the FA Cup and the Carabao in the last two seasons is something any other club would be proud to have done.

Eriksen, who currently plays for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, added that the dimension and image of United generate a feeling that “it is not enough”.

United legends, such as Gary Neville, have frequently commented on the club, which has had a difficult season, ranking in eleventh position after five matches.

Eriksen left United at the end of his contract last summer and joined Wolfsburg of the Bundesliga as a free agent. When asked if the opinion of former players impacts United, Eriksen replied: “You see how big the club is, how much people want to get involved with the club, even in media attention. I think even now we’re talking about United here. It’s just the power of the club. “Obviously, the more they give their opinion, the more negative the feelings towards the club are, the more difficult it is, because the fans follow their heroes on television and that doesn’t help the club’s players. “At the same time, at United, as a footballer, there’s always someone who has an opinion about one or another, but you’re just playing football. You try to focus on that, and I think United was good at that. The focus was on the game itself and not so much on what people say.”
