Arne Slot regrets Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure from Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot expressed his “disappointment” at Trent Alexander-Arnold’s decision to leave the club this summer, but is confident the team will adapt to his departure.

Alexander-Arnold, who is expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, announced his decision to leave Liverpool in a statement on Monday.

The player was formed in the Liverpool academy from the age of six and has played more than 350 matches for the club, winning eight major titles.

“Like everyone who loves Liverpool and is a Liverpool fan, we are disappointed that he is leaving, because not only is a good person leaving, but also a very good full-back,” Slot said at a press conference on Friday.

Slot also commented on the experience of working at other clubs where key players left every season. He is confident that, with Alexander-Arnold’s departure, another quality player will step up.

The coach refused to speculate on Alexander-Arnold’s future, including the possibility of him joining Real Madrid for this summer’s Club World Cup.

Slot also discussed the reaction to Alexander-Arnold’s departure, acknowledging that it’s inevitable that people will have opinions. He added that he hopes the team’s energy will be focused on the players.

Slot confirmed that right-back Conor Bradley is likely to start in the Premier League match against Arsenal on Sunday, and that the 21-year-old needs more playing time after a season marked by injuries.

Slot emphasized the confidence in Bradley as a very good full-back for Liverpool, highlighting his potential.
