SNS and Dominican Medical College strengthen alliance to optimize the public health system

The National Health Service (SNS), under the direction of Dr. Julio Landrón, held a strategic meeting with representatives of the Dominican Medical Association (CMD). The main objective of the meeting was to strengthen the operability of the Public Health Network, addressing critical issues such as the workday, hospital security, and the strategic distribution of specialists throughout the country.

During the dialogue, which took place within a framework of institutional collaboration, Dr. Landrón highlighted the importance of maintaining fluid communication to ensure the quality of service to citizens.

It was a harmonious meeting where we have been working together on all issues regarding schedules and the strengthening of medical care in the national territory.

Key points of the agreement

  • Workday: The commitment to comply with the established schedule of four hours per day and 20 hours per week for medical personnel was reiterated.
  • Medical Internship: The SNS committed to improving working conditions and physical spaces for medical interns, ensuring efficient distribution in health centers.
  • Hospital Security: The historic figure of more than 4,000 security agents assigned to protect patients and staff was highlighted. Additionally, a pilot plan for new security protocols will be implemented.
  • Primary Care: The role of the assistant physician in First Level Centers will be reinforced to optimize care for the population.

Commitment to dialogue and medical coverage

One of the most relevant agreements reached by both institutions is the priority of exhausting all dialogue mechanisms before considering any call for a work stoppage. This measure seeks to ensure that the population is not affected and that differences are resolved through consensus.

Regarding the availability of specialists, the SNS reported that a constant survey of personnel needs is maintained in each province. The institution will proceed to verify the payrolls and ensure that the assigned professionals fulfill their duties in the corresponding centers. In cases where a shortage of specialists is confirmed, new appointments will be evaluated based on budgetary availability.

This joint roadmap between the SNS and the Dominican Medical Association reaffirms the commitment of both entities to offer more humane, timely, and efficient health services for all Dominicans.
