Gatland to advise Peñarol of Uruguay after leaving Wales: Rugby at the highest level
Warren Gatland, the renowned former Wales coach, has been announced as an advisor to the Uruguayan club Peñarol for the remainder of the season. The news marks a new chapter in the career of the New Zealand coach, after his recent departure from the Welsh team in February, after a streak of 14 consecutive defeats. Gatland joins Peñarol at a crucial moment, just before the Super Rugby Americas playoffs.

The legendary New Zealand coach joins Peñarol as an advisor to head coach Ivo Dugonjic and all Peñarol staff to put all his knowledge to work for the team.

Peñarol, a team that provides most of the players to the Uruguayan national team, has as its main objective qualification for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia. The Peñarol rugby club announced the incorporation of Warren Gatland as an advisor for the rest of the season. Gatland, who left his position as Wales coach in February, joins the Uruguayan team for the Super Rugby Americas playoffs.
