KaVontae Turpin of the Cowboys Arrested on Misdemeanor Charges
Dallas Cowboys receiver and kick return specialist KaVontae Turpin was arrested on Saturday by the Allen, Texas Police Department and faces two misdemeanor charges, according to online records.
Turpin, 28, was booked into Collin County Jail for possession of marijuana (less than two ounces) and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
He was released on Sunday after posting a $1,500 bail.
In March, Turpin, who also plays as a wide receiver, signed a three-year, $18 million contract extension with the Cowboys.
In his first year as a kickoff return specialist, he led the NFL in kickoff return average (33.5 yards), including a 99-yard return for a touchdown against the Washington Commanders. His average was the second-highest in the league since the 1970 merger.
He also achieved a punt return for a touchdown, becoming the only player in the league last season with touchdown returns on both kickoffs and punts.
In addition, Turpin became the first Cowboys player to have touchdowns from receiving, kick return, and punt return in a single season. He caught a career-high 31 passes for 420 yards and two touchdowns, including one for 64 yards.
