UEFA Bans Czech Coach for Life for Improper Conduct
UEFA has issued a lifetime ban against Czech coach Petr Vlachovský, following an investigation into inappropriate conduct related to the secret recording of FC Slovacko players in the locker rooms. The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) made the decision following an exhaustive investigation carried out by an Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector into the accusations against the former coach of the FC Slovacko women’s team. Vlachovský was convicted in May 2025 for recording the club’s soccer players in the locker rooms, including a 17-year-old minor. He received a suspended prison sentence and a temporary ban from coaching in the country, according to media reports. UEFA determined that Vlachovský violated several articles of the Disciplinary Regulations, resulting in his lifetime ban from any function related to football. Furthermore, UEFA has requested that the sanction be extended worldwide and asked the Football Association of the Czech Republic to revoke Vlachovský’s coaching license, if it has not yet been withdrawn. The case has generated concern because Vlachovský was also the coach of the Czech Republic’s under-19 women’s national team, which underscores the importance of protecting female athletes and supervision in women’s football. The footballers’ union FIFPRO has expressed its satisfaction with the sanction, as well as UEFA’s request to FIFA to impose an international ban on the coach.“This outcome sends a strong and necessary message that abusive and inappropriate behavior has no place in football and that protecting the well-being of players must remain a priority at all levels of the game.”
