UEFA Bans Czech Coach for Life for Improper Conduct

UEFA has issued a lifetime ban against Czech coach Petr Vlachovský, following an investigation into violations of the organization’s disciplinary regulations. The coach’s misconduct was related to the secret recording of FC Slovacko players in the locker rooms. The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) was responsible for carrying out the investigation, following the accusations made against the former coach of the FC Slovacko women’s team. Vlachovský was convicted in May 2025 for filming club footballers in the changing rooms, including a 17-year-old minor. He received a suspended prison sentence and a temporary ban from coaching in the country, according to reports from Czech media. UEFA has determined that Vlachovský violated several articles of the Disciplinary Regulations, resulting in his lifetime ban from any function related to football. Furthermore, UEFA has requested that the sanction be extended worldwide. It has also asked the Football Association of the Czech Republic to revoke Vlachovský’s coaching license, if it has not already been withdrawn. This case has generated concern, given that Vlachovský was also the coach of the Czech Republic’s women’s under-19 team. This has reignited the debate about the protection of female athletes and supervision in women’s football. The footballers’ union FIFPRO has expressed its satisfaction with the sanction, as well as UEFA’s request to FIFA to impose an international ban on the coach.
