DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers pulled off a spectacular comeback to beat the Milwaukee Brewers with a score of 5-4. The hero of the day was Spencer Torkelson, who hit a decisive home run in the ninth inning, securing the victory at Comerica Park.
Torkelson’s hit not only defined the game, but also secured the series for Detroit. In addition, it avoided the defeat of their star pitcher, Tarik Skubal, who, despite a solid performance, did not get the win.
Skubal dominated the opposing batters at the start of the game, retiring the first eleven and maintaining the possibility of a no-hitter in the early innings. However, the Brewers reacted in the final part of the game.
In the seventh episode, Blake Perkins hit a double that drove in two runs, tying the score and erasing the lead the Tigers had.
Skubal’s performance ended after just over six innings, allowing four runs and seven hits, interrupting his streak of consecutive wins.
When it seemed that Skubal would be the losing pitcher, Jahmai Jones, who came in as a pinch hitter, tied the game with a home run in the eighth inning, setting the stage for Torkelson’s feat.
From Milwaukee’s side, William Contreras and Gary Sánchez also had important contributions on offense, connecting key hits during their team’s comeback.
With this victory, the Tigers demonstrated their ability to respond in crucial moments and supported their main pitcher, in a game that culminated in an exciting finish in front of their fans.
