Juan Soto Returns to Action with the Mets

New York – Dominican Juan Soto returns to the New York Mets’ lineup this Tuesday, after missing two games due to illness. His return coincides with the second game of the series against the Cincinnati Reds at Citi Field.

Soto, who will act as designated hitter, will be in the third position in the offensive order, preceded by Bo Bichette and followed by A.J. Ewing.

The star outfielder was absent due to flu-like symptoms that prevented him from playing over the weekend. Despite his brief absence, Soto remains a fundamental piece in the New York team’s offense.

So far this season, Soto boasts a batting average of .294 and an OPS of .949. In addition, he has hit 10 home runs, driven in 21 runs, scored 22, and drawn 22 walks in 136 at-bats.

The Mets also made adjustments to their roster before Tuesday’s game. Tyrone Taylor, outfielder, was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right hip flexor strain, suffered in Monday’s game against Cincinnati.

Also, the team activated left-handed reliever A.J. Minter and infielder/outfielder Jared Young from the injured list. On the other hand, prospect Nick Morabito and pitcher Jonathan Pintaro were sent to Triple-A Syracuse.

Eric Wagaman, infielder, was also added to the Major League roster.

Morabito, considered one of the organization’s top prospects, failed to connect with any hits in 11 at-bats during his first experience in the Majors.

The Mets are confident that Soto’s return will strengthen an offense that has been affected by recent absences and injuries.
