PARIS – The expected Roland Garros 2026 tournament already has its defined brackets, and anticipation grows. The draw held this Thursday in Paris revealed an exciting panorama, with the Italian Jannik Sinner, current world number one, and the Serbian Novak Djokovic, placed on opposite sides of the bracket.
This configuration opens the possibility of an epic final between both tennis giants. Sinner, who arrives as the main favorite, will seek to conquer the only Grand Slam that he still doesn’t have in his showcase.
Sinner in search of glory
The Italian, finalist in the last edition, has had an impeccable performance, winning five consecutive tournaments, including the Rome Masters, and remaining undefeated since February.
The road to the final will not be easy for Sinner. In a hypothetical quarter-final, he could face American Ben Shelton, the fifth seed. In the semi-finals, the obstacles could be even greater, with possible matches against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime or Russian Daniil Medvedev.
Djokovic and his quest for history
On the other hand, Djokovic, the third seed, will seek his fourth title in Paris and his historic 25th Grand Slam. At 39 years old, the Serbian continues to demonstrate his relevance on the circuit.
In the quarterfinals, Djokovic could face the Australian Alex de Minaur. A possible semifinal would cross him with the German Alexander Zverev, second seed, who in turn could have a tough match in the quarterfinals against the American Taylor Fritz.
Women’s Bracket: Sabalenka vs. Gauff
In the women’s draw, excitement is also guaranteed. Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff were drawn in the same half of the draw, ensuring that only one of them will reach the final.
Sabalenka, world number one, could face Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals. Gauff, defending champion, would have her compatriot Amanda Anisimova as her rival.
In the other half of the draw, Polish player Iga Swiatek, a four-time champion in Paris, and Russian Mirra Andreeva, a possible quarter-final opponent for Swiatek, stand out.
Furthermore, Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, after her recent victory at the Rome tournament, will seek to surpass the quarterfinals at Roland Garros for the first time.
