Serena Williams Returns to Professional Tennis at Queen’s
The tennis legend, Serena Williams, winner of 23 Grand Slam titles, announces her return to the courts at 44 years old. The American tennis player will compete in the Queen’s doubles tournament, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her outstanding career. Williams has not played an official match since September 2022, when she faced Ajla Tomljanović at the US Open. Her return generates great anticipation among tennis fans and followers. In the London tournament, Williams will team up with the young Canadian tennis player Victoria Mboko, 19 years old, thanks to a special invitation from the organization.Williams’ participation in the Queen’s tournament, which will be held between June 8 and 14, could open the door to her presence at Wimbledon, where she has won seven singles titles and seven doubles titles alongside her sister Venus Williams. Serena’s return comes after her reinstatement to the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) testing program, a fundamental requirement to be able to compete again.
